Advanced Mathematical Problem-Solving and Computer Science For Middle School Students

Advanced Mathematical Problem-Solving and Computer Science For Middle School Students

TThis camp is for middle school students who are advanced in mathematics. Employing a “problem-based classroom” teaching approach, the instructor will give the students challenging problems. Students will spend half of the day working through story problems that will involve different math, science, engineering, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. Students will complete the problems in pairs and review them on the boards with their instructors and peers. They will be taught numerous types of computer programming for the purpose of problem solving. Students who consistently do well in STEM areas and seem to enjoy these classes would be a good fit for this camp. The type of problems will be based on the math common core curriculum and student interests.
