High School STEM Camps
(Grades 10th - 12th)


One-week camps for upper elementary, middle school, and high schools for students who do or might have an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Mathematics (STEM). The students will be taken through a series of hands-on, student-centered experiences where they will learn a little bit about what each of the engineering fields do, build and test equipment and conduct experiments in the various disciplines that include all of STEM; including:


Topics may include, but are not limited to (some of these are weather dependent and usually not every single one of these are done although most are):

  • Alternative Energy: Build and test solar cells made from powdered donuts and blackberry juice
  • Alternative Energy: Build a battery using household items
  • Alternative Energy: Build your own wind turbine
  • Alternative Energy: Build a colorimeter and measure energy content of potato chips
  • Alternative Energy: Build an oil lamp and a Thomas Edison light bulb from common household items
  • Alternative Energy: Build a steam boiler to operate a wheel and blow a steam whistle
  • Structures: Just like spacecraft landing on Mars, students will build structures that cushion impact of an egg dropped from a high location
  • Structures: Students will learn to and will build bridges to distribute loads
  • Electrical: Will build parallel and series circuits using flashlight bulbs and batteries
  • Electrical: Will levitate pencils using ring magnets
  • Electric: Student will design and build their own speakers using common household items
  • Electrical: Build flying machines that take video.
  • Computer Engineering: Learn about components (motherboards, ram, hard drive, cpu, etc) and build your own computer from scratch
  • Computer Science: Load an operating system onto a new computer
  • Computer Science: Program LEGO Robots to navigate around obstacles



The extended camp hours are available until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for parents/ guardians who cannot pickup their children at 3 p.m.


Date: July 1st - 3rd, July 22nd - 26th, and Aug 12th - 16th

Time: 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Cost: 3-day camp $117 5-day camp $195
(Optional) Lunch for the week $45 per camper
(Optional) Extended camp hours $30 per day / per camper
