Advances in Mitochondrial Medicine: A New Model for Treating Chronic Disease Symposium
W Dallas - Victory
2440 Victory Park Lane, Dallas, TX 75219
October 4-5, 2019
8 am to 5 pm (Both days)
Advances in mitochondrial testing and metabolomics have given scientists a new lens for studying health and disease. With more than 60% of adults and 30% of children and teens in the United States now living with a chronic illness, there is a critical need for new clinical solutions. This conference will cover exciting new research in mitochondrial medicine and cellular healing to better resolve chronic disease states. It will focus on three fundamental features that are the hallmarks of disease progression and aging: (1) a decrease in physiologic resilience due to (2) a decline in metabolic reserve capacity, and (3) a decay in mitochondria and the functional communication between cells and organ systems. Decline in these areas limit the rate of healing after new and recurring cellular injuries, resulting in incomplete healing, chronic disease, and accelerated aging. With this new paradigm, clinicians will learn new therapeutic strategies to address the mitochondrial and metabolic dysfunctions driving chronic disease.
HIGHLIGHTS
• Recognize the importance of the cell damage response (CDR) in the etiology of disease
• Understand the crosstalk between mitochondria, metabolism and immune function
• Understand the mechanisms of mitochondria that impact immune cell activation
• Discriminate between the helpful and harmful aspects of reactive oxygen species in immune function
• Explore the role lipids play in energy storage, cell signaling, and as structural components of the body
• Understand the most effective, safe natural options for addressing mitochondrial decay and metabolic dysfunction
• Understand how HPA axis dysfunction influences brain energy and emotions
• Discuss clinical strategies to improve brain function by addressing stress/HPA dysfunction
Registration deadline is September 27, 2019.
